Collaborators my grandma + wind
When I moved back to my hometown after being away living in New York and LA for almost a decade — it was very uncomfortable to surrender to moving back to the city I was raised in on various levels. Even more uncomfortable moving in with my grandma and youngest brother because I had lived on my own and was in my 30s.
The Forgetting of my Body
This project provided a visceral confrontation with my physical body in its current state. Being back in Miami with my family. Having my grandma as a mirror. Connecting our bodies in this thread of challenging movements. Together, pushing our physical boundaries.
My grandmother passed 2 years after me moving in with her in March 2023. In retrospect I have realized she was the one who called me back.
